A few useful
details.

How do I start?
Open kaey, sign in or create an account with your invitation, and allow Screen Recording in System Settings. Choose a display mode, then point beside a question and press Control + Option + Command together.
What if there are several questions on screen?
Place the pointer beside the number or text of the question you want. kaey uses that position to isolate one question and its answer choices. Keep the whole question and all choices visible.
How does the answer window work?
Press the shortcut to open the window. Place your pointer near the question, then press Enter to capture and answer it. You can also choose Show last answer from the menu bar to review the latest result.
What do the signals mean?
For multiple-choice questions, the number is the option position: 1 is A, 2 is B, and so on. In the hardware modes, the number of pulses represents that position. True/false icons are also supported. Free-text answers appear in the answer window.
Which AI does it use?
Every plan uses kaey’s hosted Claude connection. You do not need an API key. Max also offers an optional personal Claude connection: your subscription token stays on your Mac and your own Claude limits apply. Hosted answers are not enabled during the current private beta.
What is captured?
When you ask, kaey isolates the question beside your pointer and its choices. The selected crop and text go through kaey’s backend to Anthropic for hosted answers. Raw screenshots are not retained by kaey. Account usage and answer results are stored for your account. Personal Claude on Max sends the crop directly through the local Claude runtime.
Can it give a wrong answer?
Yes. AI can misread content or choose an incorrect answer. Review the question and explanation. Automatic mode detects multiple-answer questions; you can also override it in Answer display. Use kaey where AI help is permitted.
Which computers does it support?
The current app is for Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 15 or later. Caps Lock and keyboard backlight support depend on the hardware. Screen brightness uses the built-in panel; unsupported displays fall back to the answer window.
